Shopify apps · Custom e-commerce software · Made in the USA

Your store never closes. Neither do I.

Unrested Development builds Shopify apps and custom software for e-commerce brands that have outgrown duct tape. Clean code, clear numbers, and a developer who is suspiciously available.

What I build

Software that keeps selling while you sleep.

I focus on the parts of e-commerce that move revenue and save hours: apps, checkout, integrations, and the back-office glue nobody wants to touch.

Shopify apps

Public apps for the App Store and private apps built for one store. Embedded admin UI, billing, webhooks, and an app review submission that passes the first time.

  • Remix / React
  • Polaris
  • Admin GraphQL
  • App Store listing

Side effect: fewer spreadsheets open on your desktop.

Checkout & storefront

Checkout UI extensions, Shopify Functions for discounts, shipping, and payment rules, plus theme app extensions that don't slow your pages down.

  • Shopify Functions
  • Checkout UI
  • Theme app blocks
  • Hydrogen

Side effect: higher average order value. Mild giddiness.

Integrations

Connect Shopify to your ERP, 3PL, CRM, or accounting stack. Reliable syncs with retries, logging, and alerts, so orders and inventory agree with each other.

  • ERP & 3PL
  • NetSuite
  • QuickBooks
  • Klaviyo

Side effect: your ops team stops copy-pasting order numbers.

Custom e-commerce apps

B2B wholesale portals, subscription logic, product configurators, and internal dashboards. When an off-the-shelf app gets you 70% of the way, I build the other 30%.

  • Node & TypeScript
  • Postgres
  • B2B
  • Subscriptions

Side effect: canceling three app subscriptions you forgot you had.

About

I read your P&L before I read your codebase. Then I read the codebase too. Twice.

Hi, I'm Andrew. I'm a developer in Saint Paul, Minnesota who genuinely likes business problems. Margins, fulfillment bottlenecks, returns that eat profit, the manual task someone does every Monday for three hours. That's the good stuff.

Every project starts with what it's worth to you. If a feature won't pay for itself, I'll tell you, even if it means a smaller invoice. If it will, I'll build it properly, document it, and hand you the keys.

The "unrested" part is mostly a joke. You get real business hours, fast replies, and a developer who cares about your store like it's the only one on the internet.

How a project runs

One night shift, start to finish.

Timestamps are for flavor. Real projects run on a calendar with milestones you approve.

  1. Discovery call

We talk goals, numbers, and what's slowing the store down. Free, 30 minutes, no pitch deck.

  2. Scope & estimate

A written plan with a fixed price or a capped range, plus the return you can expect.

  3. Build in sprints

Weekly demos on a dev store. You see progress, not a black box.

  4. Test & launch

QA on real orders, a rollback plan, and a launch window when traffic is low.

  5. Support

Monitoring and a monthly care plan, so the app keeps up with Shopify's updates.

FAQ

Questions people ask at reasonable hours.

Still curious? Ask me directly. I'll probably be up.

Do you actually not sleep?

I sleep. Not much, and never during a launch. Day to day you'll get replies within one business day, US Central time, and a direct line for emergencies on support plans.

Do you work with Shopify Plus stores?

Yes. Checkout extensibility, Functions, B2B, and multi-store setups are a big part of what I do. I also work with growing stores on standard plans.

How much does a custom app cost?

Small private apps and integrations often start around a few thousand dollars. Larger public apps and portals are scoped after discovery. You'll always get a fixed price or a capped range before work starts.

Who owns the code?

You do. Every line, in your own repository, with documentation. No lock-in and no surprise licensing fees.

Can you fix an app another developer built?

Usually, yes. I start with a paid code audit so you know what you have, what's risky, and what it will take to fix before you commit to anything bigger.

Send a few lines about your store and the problem. I'll reply with honest next steps, even if the answer is an app that already exists.
